Body system notes - Day 2

Today we covered the digestive and nervous systems.  The students completed an exit ticket to see if they were understanding the material covered so far.

Body System Notes

We will be taking notes the rest of the week.  We will be covering body systems and the organs in each system.  Students will need to learn the function of each of the organs in all of the systems covered.

Today we covered the following systems:

Card Activity - Day 3

Today, students began matching up the organ and structure cards with their functions.  They recorded the ones that they matched correctly on a worksheet.  We will finish this activity on Monday.

Card activity - Day 2

Students are continuing to match the organ cards to the system cards.  They should have all of the cards in the systems that they think they go in by the end of class today.

Classifying organs card activity

Students finished up their drawings from yesterday and began the card activity.  We will be continuing this activity tomorrow.
Students used the gray cards to learn about the systems and the purple cards to match the organs to the systems.

Body Diagrams

The students used their brainstorming list from yesterday to begin creating a picture of what they thought the organs look like in the body.  We will spend some time finishing these tomorrow.

Organ Brainstorming

Today, students had to brainstorm a list of organs in the body.
Then, we got into our lab groups and discussed expectations of working in the lab and with a group.
Tomorrow, we will use the brainstorming list for an activity in class.

Setting up notebooks

On Friday, 8/19, we set up our notebooks for the bodyworks unit.  Students created a cover page, word bank, and light bulb page.
