Cardiovascular - blood flow

We did an activity today to show how blood flows through the body and how it functions. We learned how blood transports oxygen, carbon dioxide, nutrients and waste throughout the body.

We started looking at how the blood flows from our heart to other organs in our body.  Students used the blood flow chart to give examples of how the blood flows in our body.

Summative on Digestive System 9/23

The students received their exit tickets and we went over them in class.  The exit tickets are a good review of what they can expect on the test.
Students also used the versatiles to practice the diagram of the digestive system.

Digestive system

Today, we looked at a diagram of the digestive system.  We colored and labeled parts of the digestive system and wrote their functions. Students also had a homework assignment of the analysis questions.

Part B - Breakdown

Students came up with their own experiments using the antacid and vinegar to test the importance of chewing your food.
We discussed what a variable is and why it is important to only change one variable at a time in an experiment.

Today, we started activity 14 - breakdown.  We discussed the difference between mechanical and chemical breakdown.  Students did the lab part A.
We will continue the lab through Friday.

Living with your liver

We read Activity 13 - Living with your Liver.  We discussed some of the key terms in the reading and how our liver functions.  Students began working on the analysis questions and will finish tomorrow for bell work.

Finishing up notes

Today, we finished with the notes on body systems.  The students added words to their word bank and wrote on their lightbulb page about things they learned in each system.  They completed their homework assignments from last week and began completing the body functions worksheet that we started with the cards.  Both worksheets are due tomorrow.
